The council is being torn apart and the High Councilor decides there’s only one way to resolve the deadlock to have Anming and Kellen be bonded in marriage!
Rebellion is the first novel in The Califia Trilogy. The second novel, The Hunt, will be released in early 2015.

** 4.5 Stars **~ I read the Califia Trilogy last year and I greatly enjoyed it ~
I’ve always been fascinated by matriarchal societies in books but they are pretty rare and this is even more so when it comes to the m/m genre.
Set 400 years in the future this new civilization is primitive and without technology and has its own problems and injustices. The story revolves around Anming and Kellen, two young men who couldn't be more dissimilar and who are just trying to make the best of a complicated situation. There's a lot of tension and suspense! The world-building is excellent, the characters are well developed and the MCs likable but the best part is that there are two more books!
Highly recommended!

This is a science fiction novel of excellent world-building, empathetic and intelligent characters, and writing that takes the reader effortlessly and smoothly to the end.
This novel reminds me why I love science fiction. When a story can communicate another world/reality while still focusing on great characters to give it heart, it becomes the kind of story I want to read. "Rebellion" succeeds in this way. The author is never dry, and her characters come loaded with feelings and angst. Kellen and Anming, the two male leads, are ordered into a three-year bonded pairing by the queen of Califia, and their initial reluctance, then their growth and evolution as characters, made the pages turn.
The setting, 400 years in the future of California, took me blissfully away from mundane, contemporary, real world stress and set me in a place that kept me interested, kept me reading.
I love that this author creates mixed race characters. It only adds to the color and flavor of her world. I look forward to the completion of this series, which is a planned trilogy.
